The World’s First Commercial Kava Tissue Culture Laboratory

“Kava is enjoying a resurgence in western markets, and the tissue culture technology that we are developing at this plant establishes a platform for guaranteed quality to help shape the global resurgence of kava. Not only will it have major sustainability benefits of kava for the industry, but the tissue culture lab will provide Fiji Kava with a unique differentiator and leading edge.”

Clinical Trials
Our kava products are produced by high-quality GMP. Research exists showing that Noble kava can be effective in reducing anxiety and stress:
The first double-blind, placebo controlled, cross-over clinical trial took place in 2008 2009 in Australia, with the results demonstrating that kava (250mg of kavalactones) significantly reduced anxiety over a 3-week period in 60 adults (Sarris et al., 2009).
A follow-up 6-week study in 75 participants diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder further demonstrated the effect of kava (120mg-240mg of kavalactones) in significantly reducing anxiety compared to placebo (Sarris et al., 2013a).
Notably, in both studies there were no significant effects of kava on liver function or any adverse liver effects (Sarris et al., 2013b).
Together this data indicates that not only is a water-soluble root extract of a noble cultivar of kava a fast-acting effective anxiolytic, but it also produces less unfavourable side effects compared to conventional pharmacotherapies, and is (in these small samples) safe on the liver.

The medicinal benefits of kava have been traditionally used in Pacific Islander and Western herbal medicine to promote sleep, relax the body and calm and soothe the nerves.
Our kava possesses specific % levels of kavalactones and other desirable profiles found from our 13 year of research into 200 varieties of kava across the South Pacific.
As well as being TGA and FDA compliant and listed as a complementary medicine in Australia, kava is also sold as a dietary supplement in most other international markets.
